Mary Magdalene: From Brokenness to a Bold and Devoted Faith

Like Mary of Bethany, we know the town where Mary Magdalene comes from by how she is identified. She was from the town of Magdala, a city off the coast of Galilee roughly three miles from Capernaum, known for its dye and textile industry. The Bible does not mention her parents, marital status, children, or…

1 I commend unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea: 2 That ye receive her in the Lord, as becometh saints, and that ye assist her in whatsoever business she hath need of you: for she hath been a succourer of many, and of myself also. –…

Deborah: God’s Chosen Leader in a Time of Crisis

For Scriptural background, read Judges 4 and 5 Judges 4:1-51 And the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of the Lord, when Ehud was dead. 2 And the Lord sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, that reigned in Hazor; the captain of whose host was Sisera, which dwelt in Harosheth of the…

Mary and Martha: Prioritizing What Matters Most – Service and Seeking God’s Presence

About Me

Hi I’m Sarah. I’m a coffee lover who loves studying the Bible. Jael’s Journal came about because I felt a leading to write about the things I’ve been studying in the Bible and applying them to everyday situations. Jael’s Journal will be an online space, where I share what I feel God has laid on my heart through my own personal Bible study time. I am neither a theologian nor a professional writer, just a woman trying to cultivate a plan of action through my own journey of life using God’s word.

The content found here will not be exclusively about women from the Bible, but I will probably write predominantly about them. I do believe that God’s desire is for us Christians, man or woman, to take initiative and be people of action, strong and courageous, warriors, to be like this woman Jael from Judges. Jael did not go looking for a fight, but when one came to her she exercised wisdom and discretion and God used her to fulfil His purpose. Without a doubt, this place will not be a place for Christian feminism, but rather Biblical, Christian femininity.
